Dear Church family,

What a great summer we are having!  I’m thankful for good support and attendance in our worship services during June.  We have shared the Lord’s Supper together, honored our RPHS graduates, and honored our dads on Father’s Day as well.

Vacation Bible School was meaningful and a time of sowing God’s Word and sharing God’s love with the children in our community.  We saw some signs of growth and response in some children.  Those of us who served as workers saw God’s provision of joy and perseverance in service.

Special thanks to those who helped with the nursing home, both at the worship service June 5 and the birthday party June 10.  I’ll aim to list those names later in the newsletter.

For this summer’s messages during June and July I am focused on the topic “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus” which is a look at some of the parables of Jesus.  For those who will miss some Sundays here is a complete list of what has been shared and what is scheduled:

JUNE 5       The Parable of the Persistent Widow  Luke 18:1-8

JUNE 12     The Parable of the Sower Matthew 13:1-23

JUNE 19     The Parable of the Lost Son Luke 15:11-32

JUNE 26     The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus Luke 16:19-31

JULY 3       The Parable of the Good Samaritan Luke10:25-37

JULY 10     The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector Luke 18:9-14

JULY 17     The Parables of the Kingdom of Heaven Matthew 13:24-52

JULY 24     The Parable of the Tenants Mark 12:1-12

JULY 31     The Parable of the Rich Fool Luke 12:13-21

Special thanks to my wife, Bing, for leading a women’s Bible study this past month every Thursday morning.   None Like Him: 10 Ways God Is Different from Us (and Why That's a Good Thing) by Jen Wilkin has been a blessing to those attending and an opportunity to grow in study and fellowship together.

Bing and I plan to travel to Chicago July18-23 and support the Fil-Am Baptist Church Vacation Bible School as a mission effort.  This Filipino church has welcomed us when we visited April 24 and invited us to come back and visit again.  We will serve in whatever ways are needed, and we are looking forward to this time of outreach. We plan to visit and stay with our daughter, Ruth Ann, and minister to her needs as well.  Some family time will be welcome for us.  Please be in prayer for us to travel safely and minister effectively as God leads.

There’s nothing like summer work at the farm to keep me in the Rock Port area a lot more during the summer months as well.  I’m making some progress on the old house, and appreciate those who show interest and concern.  I also am taking some time to visit and shop more in the Rock Port area, and relationships are developing as a result. Thanks be to God!

With you in the Lord’s service,

Richard Boettner, pastor
